About the Authors:

Arissa Ahrom is a Senior Associate in the Employment & Industrial Relations practice group at Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill. She manages numerous industrial relations cases before the Industrial Court of Malaysia and higher courts, particularly those involving claims of unfair dismissal by employees. Arissa also specialises in advising employers on compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010, especially in matters related to employment. In addition, she has contributed as an editor to the Annotated Statutes of Malaysia – Industrial Relations Act 1967 (2021 update) and the Annotated Statutes of Malaysia – Trade Unions Act 1959 (2021 update). She is also a co-author of the LexisAdvance Practical Guidance Malaysian Employment Module. Arissa obtained her law degree from Queen’s University Belfast and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2017. She was later admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2018 and is a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple.

Nurul Aisyah Hassan is a Partner in the Employment and Industrial Relations Practice Group at LHAG. She obtained her law degree from the University of Exeter and has been admitted to both the English and Malaysian Bars. Aisyah also holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Litigation and Dispute Resolution from University College London. She frequently represents employers in industrial and civil court proceedings, particularly in cases involving unfair dismissal claims and breaches of employment contracts.

Shariffullah Majeed is a Partner in the Employment and Industrial Relations Practice Group at LHAG. He obtained his LLB (Hons) from the International Islamic University of Malaysia in 2008 and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya the following year. Shariff has experience working closely with a wide range of clients, including multinational corporations and government-linked companies. Although his main focus is on industrial relations and employment law, he also represents clients in civil cases involving disputes related to employment contracts.
